Spay and Neuter Clinics for Dogs and Cats
Saint Francis Veterinary Hospital, PLLC offers 2 spay and neuter clinics each week. There is one for cats on Wednesdays and one for dogs on Thursdays. The clinics present the pet owner with the opportunity to get a high-quality surgical procedure done for a reduced price. While the price is low, we do not skimp on the procedure or the care your pet receives. Comparable procedure prices vary, but we have found them at over $400 in some local practices.
To take advantage of the program, call 518-695-6953 Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM to make an appointment. We do have limited spots on any particular day, but have been able to accommodate all calls within 2 weeks at this point.
The night before your appointment, we ask that you do not feed your pet after 9:00 PM. On the morning of your appointment, you bring your pet in at the appointment time and meet with the veterinarian who will examine your pet and make sure they are a suitable candidate for surgery. The pet stays with us after the exam and the surgery is done later in the morning. Your pet will have an EKG and oxygen monitor throughout surgery. In the afternoon, you return and your pet goes home with you. There are no stitches to come out as they are all placed under the skin and will dissolve over time. We ask you to watch your pet's incision over the next few days for excessive swelling or fluid discharge. We also send you home with some post-operative liquid pain control medication to give your pet orally. Prices: (includes exam, surgery, monitoring, and pain medication)
Dogs: $175 for a spay (female), $150 for a neuter (male) Cats: $125 for a spay (female), $100 for a neuter (male) These prices include everything needed for the procedure. Extra charges are for other things you request such as leukemia or heartworm tests, vaccines, dewormer or flea medication. Our pricing on medications is comparable to on-line pharmacies. |
